DELAWARE, Ohio – It wasn’t supposed to make its debut until the
New York Auto Show, but with news this exciting, we wouldn’t have been able to
keep it a secret either. Becoming the most powerful convertible ever produced
by Chevrolet, the 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06 Convertible was released early!
It was 1963 the last time the factory even offered a Z06
convertible because lightweight convertible structures couldn’t handle the
performance of a supercar. The Corvette’s braking, cornering, and acceleration
proved to be too much for the open air designs. But with recent technological
advancements, even in just the past five years, computer-aided engineering,
metallurgy, and manufacturing techniques have now made the Z06 convertible
possible! With an aluminum chassis that is 20 percent stiffer than previous
models, the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 convertible is now one of the most
capable drop-tops on the market!
Though developing the convertible version presented more
difficulties than the coupe, both models are equally capable. Besides the
provisions for mounting the power folding top – repositioned seatbelt mounts
and relocated trans and differential coolers to the underbody – the Corvette
Z06 convertible and coupe offer the same power, performance, and capability. So
the only thing left to do is decide which of the four thick fabric top colors
you like best, select one of the three basic configurations: Standard, Carbon
Fiber Aero Package, or Z07 Package, and then feel the wind in your hair! Just
make sure to brace yourself because with a new LT4 6.2-liter supercharged V8
engine, the Corvette’s 625 horsepower will have your adrenaline pumping!
After a long, painful winter, you deserve to unwind and feel
