650 HP Confirmed for 2015 Corvette Z06

650 HP Confirmed for 2015 Corvette Z06

DELAWARE, Ohio – General Motors has just released official horsepower and torque ratings of 650 HP and 650 lb.-ft. of torque for the 2015 Corvette Z06, confirming the supercar is more powerful than any other Corvette ever built! Not to mention, one of the most powerful vehicles on the market!

We've been referring to the 'Vette as a supercar and the LT4 engine has definitely lived up to those standards, scoring an official SAE-certified 650 horsepower rating. With so much power coming from the 6.2-liter supercharged V-8, the 2015 Corvette Z06 is the most powerful Corvette ever built! Even more, the impressive 650 HP rating makes the LT4 engine the highest output engine ever sold in a GM product!

Based off the standard Corvette Stingray's LT1 engine, the LT4 is equipped with direct injection, cylinder deactivation, and variable valve timing, but adds stronger cylinder heads, lightweight titanium intake valves, lighter steel connecting rods, special aluminum pistons, a stainless steel exhaust manifold, and a 1.7-liter supercharger to achieve the 200 horsepower increase. Additionally, GM engineers made sure to design the supercar with a more flexible curve torque for better on-demand power at any rpm – horsepower peak happens at 6400 rpm and torque peak happens at 3600 rpm.

It won't be long before you can get behind the wheel of the most powerful Corvette ever built because the supercar's seven-speed manual or eight-speed automatic versions will begin arriving in dealerships early in 2015!
