Chevy Malibu SS In Development?

DELAWARE, Ohio– It was 2007 the last time Chevrolet offered a sporty SS variation of the Malibu, but according to recent spy shots it looks like there could be a Chevy Malibu SS in development! While no one knows for sure if a Chevy Malibu SS is in development, a Chevy spokesman recently said they were looking at developing variants of existing products that build on the brand's performance heritage. So let's dream for a minute and see what the latest spy shots reveal.

The Fast Lane Car recently rolled up on prototype in question and when they heard the turbo spool up, they realized that this particular Malibu may have been equipped with a more powerful version of the 259 HP 2.0 liter turbocharged LTG engine. Further, the 8th-gen Malibu was sporting wheels from the Buick Regal GS, dual exhausts and test equipment. All of which led to speculation that Chevrolet may be working on a sporty SS version of the mid-size Malibu.
